A2Dominion response following Grenfell Tower fire

Our highest priority is always the safety of our residents. We ensure our buildings meet strict safety regulations and inspections, both at construction stage and afterwards.

Safety inspections

We own and manage 126 blocks that are six storeys or above (18m or above) and we have up-to-date fire risk assessments for all of these blocks.

Inspections of these properties are carried out annually, usually throughout the financial year. However, following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower, this inspection programme has been accelerated as a precautionary measure, and all inspections will be completed by September 2017.

Fire safety arrangements

We work with independent fire safety consultants to inspect our buildings and ensure the safety of our residents.

We recently appointed new consultants to review our current fire safety arrangements for our properties and identify any new risks that have become apparent since the fire at Grenfell Tower. They are also checking all fire safety equipment and this work will be completed by September 2017.

We can confirm that we have not carried out any refurbishment projects on our tower blocks using retro-fitted Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) external cladding, which is the focus of the on-going investigation at Grenfell Tower.

However, since the Grenfell Tower fire, we have been checking the cladding used on all of our high-rise buildings as a matter of urgency.

Fire safety strategy

Our fire strategy is based on a 'stay put' or ’controlled evacuation’ methodology. This strategy reflects best practice and was developed in conjunction with the Surrey and London Fire Brigades. This strategy and guidance remains in place for our customers.

Advice for our customers

We have been working hard to reassure customers who may be concerned following the Grenfell Tower fire, including writing to all those that live in blocks that are six storeys or higher. We provide fire safety advice for all of our customers through our Safety in Your Home information leaflet and via the London Fire Brigade’s website. We have urged any customers with concerns to get in touch with us as soon as possible.
