Volunteer service

Our volunteer service offers A2Dominion customers help in their own homes to enable them to cope with a range of practical and emotional difficulties they may have. Our volunteers include community champions and green champions, plus we also provide corporate volunteering.

We have a large number of volunteers from all walks of life. They are people from the local community who offer their time, life skills and experience to help out.

Volunteers are fully trained to:

  • Support older or disabled people, or those with mental health issues
  • Provide a painting and decorating service through our Brushstrokes project
  • Offer gardening services to older customers

All volunteers are fully vetted (criminal record and reference checked) and must complete a training course before they begin work.

Community Champions

Community Champions are A2Dominion customers who care and want to make a difference in their community.

What does it involve?

There are no formal obligations to the role and volunteers can do as little or as much as they like. We have graded the different projects to show customers the level of commitment each project may involve. So even if you are working or are out of the house during the day, it is still a role you can do.

All new Community Champions will be given an induction on the scope of the role and will receive a Welcome Pack and formal induction to the programme.

There are many different projects the Community Champions can take part in, including:

  • Adopt a garden - volunteers can maintain the garden of a neighbour who is unable to do so themselves
  • Good Neighbour - for example, volunteers can collect prescriptions to help older neighbours
  • Community painting day - organise a volunteer painting day to improve a neighbourhood or communal area
  • Community event organiser
  • Door knocking volunteers - to promote your work and get neighbourhood feedback

Or you might have a great idea of your own!
