Safety in your home

It’s important for you to know how to live safely in your home to protect yourself, your family and those around you. Whether you are a tenant or homeowner, you have certain responsibilities to keep your home safe.

Download our leaflet to learn more about fire safety, gas safety, asbestos, water, home security and insurance, and to find out what responsibilities you have.

Once a year, your gas appliances and supply needs to be checked to make sure they are safe.

The annual gas safety check helps detect any safety risks and prevents gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning.

If you are a tenant living in one of our homes, we will arrange your annual gas safety check. If you are a homeowner, you are responsible for arranging your own gas safety check.

To find out more about the annual gas safety check and what responsibilities you have as a tenant or homeowner, download our leaflet.

Mould and condensation

Condensation is caused by warm, moist air or water vapour when it comes into contact with cold surfaces.

Over time, condensation can cause mould to grow inside your home, so it's important to prevent or limit condensation wherever possible.

You can also download our guide to preventing mould caused by condensation in your home for more information.

Students

You can find detailed safety and security information in your student accommodation guide.
