Local hostel makes Christmas comeback

Christmas tree

The Mayor of Newbury Councillor David Fenn and Mayoress Marion Fenn joined the community at the official re-opening of the newly refurbished Bramlings House in Newbury. The event which took place on Tuesday 18 December saw residents and locals celebrate the newly refurbished young person’s hostel with tea, coffee and mince pies.

Over the past six months residential property group A2Dominion, who have managed the property since July, have refurbished the property replacing furniture and fittings, as well as repainting it inside and out. Bramlings House is a hostel for at risk 17 to 25 year olds and was previously managed and supported by NACRO.

A2Dominion has invested in the property to ensure it is safe for the children and young people who now call it home. Items from two show homes managed by its FABRICA by A2Dominion brand - the brand through which A2Dominion Group markets and sells its new build homes – were also donated to the property, giving residents a new cosy living space.

Sally Morris, Housing Officer at A2Dominon, said:

“It’s critical that places like Bramlings House are available to young people in need. We’re really proud to play a role in such an important part of the community.

“Thank you to West Berkshire Housing, Social Services and all other local supporting agencies that have helped us come this far in the last six months.”

Councillor David Fenn, Mayor of Newbury, said:

“It’s such an honour to meet so many passionate people who do such great work in our community. Thank you again to A2Dominon and its partners for taking the time to invest in this home, and for continuing to bring people together – particularly at such an important time of the year.”
