Careers Coach: Helping our customers into employment

Careers Advisor assisting resident

Great West Quarter resident Rebekah, 38, was job hunting and had been looking for a new career path when the Careers Coach pulled up outside her home in West London this June. Rebekah hasn’t forgotten the moment, “I remember looking out my window and my daughter asking ‘mummy what’s that? So we put our coats on and went to have a look.”

The Careers Coach is equipped with nine computer stations, Wi-Fi and is staffed by dedicated employment advisors, committed to helping A2Dominion customers find work or develop their careers. In the last year A2Dominion has helped 43 customers get into work.

“I wanted to start a new career, I had spent 17 years working in admin and felt ready for a new challenge. After looking after my partner’s nan, I realised that I wanted a career in care work.”

The Careers Coach is one of A2Dominion’s employability programmes, it is aimed at getting people across the capital into work and complements the “Love London Working” European Social Fund Initiative.

Within a week of her first consultation with A2Dominion’s employment advisor, Dennis Owusu, Rebekah was offered a job interview at Mears Care, a care agency.

Rebekah landed the job at the care agency and is finding the work hugely rewarding.

If you know anyone who would benefit from a consultation, call Dennis Owusu on 0800 432 0077.
