Meet and greet for residents of UK’s first ever eco-town is success

A2Dominion recently held its first ‘welcome to your home’ event at Elmsbrook, the first phase of a pioneering new eco-town development in North West Bicester, Oxfordshire.

Over 80 residents turned out for the event which gave them the opportunity to talk to local service providers, receive practical guidance about their new homes and access sustainable travel initiatives.

Whether it was booking test drives with the energy saving vehicle specialist, ‘Drive Electric’ or learning about the local school provider, ‘The White Horse Federation,’ the event had something for everyone.

Representatives from A2Dominion were on hand to answer questions, and the soon-to-be residents also had the opportunity to meet with different community partners, including the Oxford Youth art project, Bicester Green centre for skills and sustainability and Bicester Emmanuel Church where the event was held.

Heather David, A2Dominion’s Head of Community Investment, said: “The day was a great success. As a leading housing provider, we are committed to making sure our new residents feel at home from the moment they move in; we hope events like this will help achieve that.”

“It was great to see the initial development of the community take shape with help from our fantastic partners, we’re looking forward to engaging more with the residents once they’ve settled in.”

This wasn’t lost on new resident Mr. Cooper, who said: “The day has been really useful, it was great to meet other residents and it’s taken the stress away as we’ve had all our questions answered. I can’t wait to move in.”
