A2Dominion leads tour of new city centre development
Oxford Council leader Bob Price has been given a tour of a major new housing development in the heart of the city, which will provide over 40 affordable homes to local people when it completes next month.
Housebuilder A2Dominion showed Cllr Price and other guests around its new scheme on Thames Street on Monday 29 February 2016.
The £9.4m development has breathed new life into the former Luther Court site in Oxford, which had been home to a number of small single-occupancy bedsit units for more than 30 years.
A2Dominion’s new scheme will deliver 42 quality one and two-bedroom apartments as well as 82 brand-new rooms for students.
The tour was led by Gerry Walker, A2Dominion’s Regional Development Director, and also featured the scheme’s planning architect and construction team.
Gerry Walker of A2Dominion said: “We are extremely proud to be launching this scheme, which will provide valuable affordable housing to local people in Oxford.
“A2Dominion is committed to reinvesting its surpluses back into the provision of affordable homes, and schemes like this support this core objective.”
Councillor Bob Price, Oxford City Council Leader, said: “I warmly welcome this new affordable housing development. Not only does it provide much-needed affordable housing in Oxford city centre, but it is also an innovative and attractive design.”
The name of the new scheme, which is being chosen by students of St Ebbe’s Primary School as part of a competition run by A2Dominion, will be announced shortly.
A2Dominion, which owns and manages over 2,600 homes in Oxford, will launch the new development on Tuesday 8 March 2016.
