All aboard the ‘Careers Coach’ for Brentford residents

cc16 London Borough of Hounslow's Employability Outreach Coordinator Suzanne Parsons with local resident Philip Anisrah

Brentford and Isleworth MP Ruth Cadbury has opened the door to free employment advice for local people with the launch of a ‘Careers Coach’ in Brentford.

Over thirty Hounslow residents boarded the council’s popular mobile careers coaching service at A2Dominion’s Great West Quarter estate, where it is now making a monthly stop to support the career development and prospects of local people.

Those attending the launch on Thursday 27 January were given valuable support on jobs, training and apprenticeship opportunities. Among them was a young mother keen to return to work and a resident looking to write a CV after being unemployed for 20 years.

The specialist roaming employment and training centre, which already stops in Feltham and central Hounslow, is equipped with nine computer stations and is committed to providing specialist support to jobseekers and residents wishing to further their careers.

Following the coach’s success in the area, Hounslow Borough Council has joined forces with local housing association A2Dominion to extend its route to the heart of the Great West Quarter estate on Ealing Road.

Officially launching the coach in Brentford, MP Ruth Cadbury said: “There are lots of young people living at Great West Quarter and this service offers a fantastic opportunity for them to improve their skills and develop their careers.”

Great West Quarter resident Amira Dzonlic, who attended the event, said: “The Careers Coach was helpful and I was surprised at how good it was. I received some great advice from A2Dominion’s employment pathways team, and they are helping me with training to help further my career.”

The Careers Coach will continue to make weekly visits to Bell Square in Hounslow on Mondays and The Centre car park in Feltham on Wednesdays, each from midday to 4.30pm.

All three drop-in services are available to any resident living in the borough, regardless of employment statues of if they receive benefits.
