£25,000 donated to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust

tt15 A2Dominion has donated to the Trussell Trust in each of the last three years

08-Dec-2015

A2Dominion has donated £25,000 to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust as part of its corporate social responsibility programme.

The funding will be used by the London Foodbank Network Team to support 38 foodbanks whose volunteers provide emergency supplies to people in need.

Volunteers also offer emotional support and assistance to people to help address the underlying causes of the problems that brought them to the foodbank.

Adrian Curtis, The Trussell Trust’s Foodbank Network Director, said: “The donation from A2Dominion is a big help to our network of foodbanks in London which face a high level of need and the many challenges associated with operating in ethnically diverse London boroughs.

“The donation will help our London team to work closely with foodbanks, helping them with training and resolving complex issues and receive invaluable emotional support.

“Foodbanks are a lifeline to many people in London in desperate need and this donation will help us ensure emergency food, advice and signposting remains available for people in London who find themselves in an unexpected crisis.”

As well as this year’s donation, A2Dominion also donated £25,000 to The Trussell Trust in 2014, and £12,500 in 2013.

Darrell Mercer, A2Dominion Chief Executive, said: “We recognise the hugely valuable work of The Trussell Trust in providing both practical and compassionate help to people across London and are pleased to be supporting the charity for a the third year in a row with this £25,000 donation.

“A2Dominion’s corporate social responsibility programme provides financial assistance each year to a variety of larger and smaller charities which are all making a difference to the lives of people living in our local communities.”

During the calendar year 2014, The Trussell Trust’s London foodbanks gave 102,605 three-day emergency food supplies to London people in crisis.

Through visits, phone calls and email, The London Foodbank Network Team builds strong relationships with each foodbank, providing support, volunteer training, problem solving and encouragement.
