Local housing association presents donation to support children’s charity in Stanwell
Local housing association A2Dominion has donated over £2,000 to the Stanwell Sure Start Children’s Centre, a charity which creates brighter futures for children and families in the area.
The Sure Start Children’s Centre, run by the Surrey Care Trust on behalf of the local council, provides early learning support, information and advice to children aged up to 12, some of whom have learning difficulties.
A2Dominion’s donation of £2,013, awarded as part of its wider Corporate Social Responsibility fund, will be used to train two members of staff and help tackle disadvantage, social exclusion and hardship among young local people.
Elaine Tisdall, Surrey Care Trust Chief Executive, said: “Stanwell Children’s Centre already provides expert support and a sensory room for children with additional needs, but funding from A2Dominion will enable us to help empower their parents with the right skills to deal with challenging behaviour.”
John Knevett, A2Dominion’s Commercial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive, said: “As a local housing association with a strong presence in Surrey, we are committed to investing in charities which support our local communities and residents.
“This donation to the Sure Start Children’s Centre in Spelthorne, a borough where we manage over 7,500 homes, will make a big difference to disadvantaged young children in the area.”
A2Dominion was recently granted planning permission for the fourth and final phase of its £56m Stanwell New Start scheme, a major regeneration project providing 323 new homes and community facilities for local people.
Each year, the housing association invites staff to nominate charities of their choice which could benefit from funding awarded through its Corporate Social Responsibility fund.
Since 2012, it has donated more than £7,000 to the Surrey Care Trust.
