A 121-home development built on the site of a former paint factory in east London has been named Best Market Sale Development of the year by Inside Housing magazine.

Gunmakers Wharf, built across four four-storey blocks, comprises 72 homes for private sale, 15 apartments for private rent, four for shared ownership and 30 social rented homes.

Designed by architects Stockwool, Gunmakers Wharf was selected by judges as one of Inside Housing's Top 60 Developments for 2015, subsequently winning the Best Market Sale Developments category.

The Top 60 Developments list celebrates success and innovation in delivering new homes across a total of 10 categories chosen by a panel of judges.

Judge Matthew O’Connell, from the British Property Federation, said of the scheme: “This is a charmingly understated development that has a fantastically clean and modern feel.”

Gunmakers Wharf incorporates green and brown roofs to create a natural habitat for local wildlife and reduce the effects of urban rainwater run-off.

The development also achieved success at the Placemaking Awards 2015 where it was awarded Best Housing Scheme, as well as at the First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards where it won in the Best Architectural Design category.

In addition, at the National Housing Awards 2015, A2Dominion was presented with an award for Excellence in Customer Service. The accolade was awarded in recognition of work undertaken by the Group’s Leasehold Services Team in supporting customers in financial hardship.
