A2Dominion gives £2,500 donation to Oxfordshire-based youth arts charity
Local housing association A2Dominion has donated £2,500 to the OYAP Trust, a charity which helps develop the talents of young people.
The OYAP Trust, formerly the Oxfordshire Youth Arts Partnership, works with local communities and organisations to deliver creative arts projects to help transform the lives of Oxfordshire residents aged between seven and 25.
Its wide-ranging projects, which include a community radio station and drama classes, aim to help children grow in confidence and achieve qualifications.
A2Dominion’s donation, which was awarded as part of its wider Corporate Social Responsibility programme, will be used to fund a series of music technology workshops for teenagers.
The workshops, known as Rock School, teach students how to write musical compositions and develop their own individual style. Nearly three-quarters of Rock School students go on to study for an arts award through Trinity College, London.
Helen Le Brocq, Director of OYAP, said: “Although Oxfordshire is perceived as a wealthy county, more than 13,000 children here are living in poverty.
“A2Dominion’s donation will enable us to continue to deliver art projects which specifically tackle these issues and help change the lives of young local people.”
Zoë Ollerearnshaw, A2Dominion’s Company Secretary, said: “As a leading housing association with a strong presence in Oxford, we are committed to investing in charities which support our local residents.
“The OYAP Trust has the future of local communities at heart and we are pleased to be making this donation to make a difference to the lives of young people in the area.”
A2Dominion, which owns and manages over 2,500 homes in Oxford, invites staff to nominate charities or projects of their choice to benefit from funding as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility fund.
